The REACH (Research on Engagement, Adjustment, and Community Health) Lab is interested in how social contexts (e.g., families, peer groups, schools, neighborhoods) influence adjustment. We conduct most of our work in and around Trenton, NJ, and try to identify resources that help people and communities thrive. Please take a few minutes to learn more about our current and recent projects and partners.
Promoting Happiness and Well-Being for Trenton Youth
The REACH lab partnered with a local youth organization, UrbanPromise Trenton, to design and implement community-based research initiatives aimed at promoting positive mental health techniques and conducted educational workshops for high school youth leaders.
Cultural Relevance of Wellness Curricula
This independent research project examines how psychological wellness curricula can be adapted to be more inclusive, responsive, and appealing to diverse populations. Through a systematic literature review, this project will synthesize existing psychological research, frameworks, and strategies of culturally adaptive programming. This research project also aims to propose recommendations for cultural adaptations to an existing TCNJ Well-being program to increase its relevance, engagement, and effectiveness for diverse student populations.
